Known problems

Before reporting any issue, please check this page.

Before reporting any issue please be sure your Express is on the 30th version (V1.30 or at new Express V2.30) or newer!

The Express Bench Cable is a universal cable system and kit that enables extremely fast and safe connections to hundreds of control units, even without removing them from their mounting position.

During its development, safety was the top priority. As a result, not a single control unit has ever been damaged during use—and thanks to its built-in protections, none ever will be. The worst thing that can happen is that it does not connect (or it connects but communication cannot be established).

Unfortunately, due to the wide coverage and the many wiring variations that are unknown to us, it can happen that certain control units cannot be used with the Express even though they are listed under a given cable type and appear in the menu.

Some of these cases are already known and documented. Missing wiring variants will be added in future updates, settings will be refined, and the affected units will be corrected. Several such cases have already been fixed.

There are three categories of known issues

  • The control unit appears to connect through the Express (no error is shown during the test), yet there is no communication
  • During the connection test or during use, the device reports an overcurrent error and disconnects
  • The connector cannot be plugged onto the controller. Although the pin positions are the same, the connector keying is different, which creates a mechanical obstruction. This can be easily modified at home. (Mostly motorbikes and CVs have differnetly coded sockets.)

The first issue is usually caused by a not-fully-compatible wiring variant (unknown wiring version).
The second issue is an intentional protection function: certain control units have a high current draw (especially their inrush current), which requires fine-tuning of the corresponding current profile and settings.

If you encounter a case or controller that is not listed here, please report it by sending an email to express@rigotech.hu

If your issue or the affected ECU is already listed, please do not submit an additional error report — we are already addressing it. Please refer to the revision history for updates and the latest releases.

Will not be fixed /added

EDC17C49 The versions requiring capacitor on GPT (sometime resistor or double GND) are not supported and will not be supported in the future. Other 3 wiring variants work fine.
Kefico MED17.9.8 works only with the Express V2 (WiFi version). In Express V1 the GPT 89 pin is missing, can’t be added.

ECUs required for further testing

Contact us if you can send one — even a faulty unit is fine, as long as communication still works.

Connector keying is different

They work fine, but some adjustments are needed at the ECU side connectors. (documentation will follow)
